Dr Adam Hawkey
Associate Professor of Sports Science and Human Performance, Solent University Southampton
Dr Adam Hawkey is Associate Professor and Strategic Lead for Knowledge Exchange at Solent University Southampton. An Honorary Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Dundee and Honorary Professor at Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) in India, he is internationally recognised for his expertise in health and human performance. Dr Hawkey sits on the Professional Development Committee (High Performance Sport) of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), the Executive Board of The Biomechanics Initiative, the Executive Committee of UK SpaceLABS, and is a Fellow (and former Deputy Chair) of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).
Dr Hawkey has held official positions at Olympic and Paralympic Games, and regularly works with Premier League Football teams and other professional sporting organisations. Additionally, he has worked with NASA’s Biomedical Office at the Kennedy Space Center and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) on projects relating to astronaut health. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and associated lockdowns, he has been an expert speaker at various national and international conferences and been an advisor on health and wellbeing to various television, radio, newspaper, and other media outlets.
